Salva Kiir declines to attend  IGAD extraordinary meeting on South Sudan crisis.

Juba– South Sudan president Salva Kiir has repudiated the invitation extended to him by  East Africa regional body IGAD under auspices of Ethiopia prime minister Desalenge.

According to the office of the President through his press secretary Ateny Wek Ateny, president will not attend the meeting in Addis Ababa due to what he said to be domestic issues that need attention of the president.

South Sudan representatives are yet to be named.

South Sudan conflict has taken different dimensions, there is still ongoing violence across the country, enormous number of population has been driven out of their homes, many are still facing severe humanitarian disaster and famine is threatening almost every households in the country.

Salva Kiir unilaterally called for national dialogue to be convened inside the country with exclusion of opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar. 

According to the regional and international observers, the national dialogue is a positive step forward to achieve a lasting peace through political process but questioned the inclusivity and creditability of the process.

Many local and international actors have been calling the government to include all the political forces  and arm opposition to join the dialogue so that national tranquillity is achieved through participation of all South Sudanese.
