Update: Gatdet Dak still under detention as Kenya pushes for his deportation

Nairobi – The Spokesperson of Dr. Riek Machar, James Gatdet Dak, is still under detention by Kenya goverment follow his arrest yesterday late afternoon from his residence in Nairobi, Kenya.

Gatdet was arrested allegedly over a press statement he made welcoming the removal of UNMISS force commander, Lieutenant General Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki of the Republic of Kenya, following the instigation of the mission’s failure to protect civilians and aids workers in the Country during the July fighting and at previous occasion.

The removal of Mogoa has been rejected bitterly by Kenyan goverment, accusing UN of lack of transparency in the removal process of their General and opted to pull out forces from the UN mission in South Sudan and disengage in the peace process of the troublesome east African nation.

The security and authorities in Kenya are working to deport James Gatdet to Juba with immediate effects though the safety of the later would be in imminent danger in the hands of Juba authorities who are also accused to be working in shadow influencing the decisions of Kenyan goverment.

Source within the SPLM-IO in Nairobi says they are still working to secure the release of James Gatdet Dak as talks continue between them and the Kenyan authorities.
