Juba– The fighting that erupted yesterday in presidential palace inflicted heavy casualties from both side, over 30 bodies of SPLA-IO were reported to have died and over 90 govt forces were killed in action last evening, the number may rise as many bodies are still being found nearby.
Many more injured, sporadic shooting has been heard through out the night but the situation remains relatively calm.
Presidency released a joined statement last night and called for calm.
The fighting started when unknown armed forces along with presidential guards also knownas tiger gang up with those forces and started firing their guns to IO soldiers guarding the first vice president Dr. Riek Machar in J1
Both Salva Kiir’s guards and Riek Machar jointly fought to protect the presidency
Upto now, those behind yesterday skirmishes are not yet identified as Presidency forms a committee led by interior minister to investigate the cause of the fight and report back within ten days.
First vice president Dr. Riek Machar has reached his residence safely last night.
Situation remains tense and wangdunkon media is monitoring the situation.
