Juba– The chief of general staff in SPLA / IO General Simon Gatwech Dual has touched down in Juba international airport along with hundreds of opposition forces this afternoon.
Government in Juba has been dragging it’s feet to permit landing clearance for opposition’s army chief since last week, the joint monitoring and evaluation commission (JMEC) the body tasks to oversee the implementation of the August deal has been pushing both sides to compromise and cease the conflict and transitional government to avert economic downturn and massive displacement in the country.
SPLA-IO inspector General of police Jok Gai was among the accompanying delegates.
The government internal security bureau director had on Friday issued landing clearance for both Machar and his chief of general staff to land in Juba on Monday.
The arrival of SPLA-IO Chief of Staff marks the beginning of implementation of the security arrangements and wil pave the way for the coming of first vice president designate Dr. Riek Machar in Juba to form long awaited transitional government of national unity with salva Kiir, the coming of Riek Machar to Juba has been adjourned several times due to logistical issues and other impasse put by the government in Juba.
