Gen. Taban finally in Juba; acknowledged the end of the war

Juba – The Advance Team of the SPLM in Opposition has fully and finally arrived Juba after a long day delays more than expected.

The team was initially meant to arrive in the morning hours in Juba but some technical delays from the flight company delayed the arrival of the team as expected. The flight which suppose to take 135 members of the advance team including the team leader, Gen. Taban Deng Gai, delayed from Khartoum where it went for routine flight.

Taban finally arrived at JIA at around 7:30pm local time and made a short press statement acknowledging their arrival in Juba citing that “they have come home” and “the war is over”

15 members arrived earlier using different flight which was supposed to be followed by the other fighting carrying the bigger number of the team.

Hundred of civilians and civil society groups spent the whole day at the airport and ended dispersing late this evening as the group almost failed to show up from Ethiopia.

Taban was received by David Deng Athorbei, the finance minister tasked for reception, accommodation and coordination of the SPLM (IO)’s advance team. Other top goverment officials were also present.
