Pagak – Angelina Teny, a leading South Sudanese female politician and the first wife to former VP Dr. Riek Machar (FVP designate) who currently leads the main armed opposition in the Country has been appointed as the Chairperson of National Committee for defense and Security in the opposition’s political structure under Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon
“Pursuant to SPLM/SPLA Conference Resolutions (Nasir and Pagak), I, Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of SPLM/SPLA, hereby appoint Cde Angelina Tenya as Chairperson of National Committee for Security and Defence,” ~ part of the appointment letter reads
Angelina as been a driving engine for her husband, Dr. Riek Machar, in running the widely spread armed rebellion. She has been helping in overseeing the running of the movement and as well as establishing diplomatic ties with outside world.
During the 2010 election, Angelina was an independent candidate running for the Governorship of the largest oil producing Unity State against the SPLM candidate Gen. Taban Deng Gai who has been the Chief Negotiator for the armed rebellion for the last period of conflicts and negotiations. The later was seen as the winner in the state but the election result was opposite as the SPLM by then played their “magic and powers” and won the election allover, Angelina lost to Taban who was in the same camp with Dr. Riek and Salva Kirr.

Other appointed National committee Chairpersons are Losube Ludoru Wongo and Lumumba Stanislaus Di-Aping for national committee for land, housing and environment and National Committee for labour, human resources development respectively.
