“IGAD Report against us was bias”: SPLM-IO

Addis Ababa – The Summary of latest Reports of Violations of the Permanent Ceasefire that said to have been investigated and Verified by the IGAD Monitoring and Verification Mechanism in South Sudan which said started from 22 Sept/2015; According to the report all attacks had been perpetuated by SPLA-IO in Unity state.

This report is in irregular shape and the IGAD team of MVM need to go on the ground once again  for further investigation and find out clearly of who is attacking who. The IGAD Monitoring and Verification Mechanism in South Sudan should make a good evaluation on the ground. Initially, government forces were the one carrying out attacks on our military garrisons from the state capital Bentiu, Western Equatoria and Malakal.

In the process of pursuing them, our forces ended up capturing Guit, Leer and Koch but we withdrew from the said areas because we were not intent to capture their places to violet the ceasefire signed on 17/8/2015 by our chairman.

The compiled reports of the attacks in Unity state by our forces is not realistic, while several attacks had been made by the government in different locations in greater Upper Nile and no reports at all about these attacks. Even today the government continuing violating the ceasefire by attacking our position in Western Equatoria state using aerial bombardment and heavy shelling on our bases and even in Malakal at the west bank of the Nile  and the world is silent on this.

On 4th/Sept/2015, the United Nations confirmed that helicopters carried out attacks at the west bank of the Nile, near the state capital of Malakal, yet this report can be included if the office of Monitoring and Verification Mechanism team  in South Sudan is sincerely unbiased.

On date 28/9/2015, government troop shot dead a woman and wounded other two people at Kuok village near Lelo in Upper Nile State, also a battle was fought at Pulguori village where civilians received their ration from humanitarian agencies in Leer county in Unity State on 29/09/2015, had the government forces based in those areas?

The Monitoring and Verification Mechanism team in South Sudan said they had collected reports from different sources including the government, would they admit that they had been attacking us? It is good that IGAD should distance its self from being bias, even from negotiations; they always take side which cannot help them to achieve this competitive gold.

The Sudan People Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) signed this compromised peace agreement without reservations that shown our readiness and loyalty to our country. But Kiir signed and put aside a number of reservations which resulted today to be uncontrollable violations of the permanent ceasefire by his government.

Our forces had clearly instructed by the leadership to respect the then signed compromised peace agreement (CPA) as not to launch any attack against the government troop and they always remain in self-defense, only if they are attacked.
