Jikany Community in juba UN-House condemned the defection of their “two disgruntled sons”

[dropcap]J[/dropcap]uba:- The Jikany Community living under UN protection in the Protection of Civilians site in Juba strongly condemn the unexpected defection of their two sons, Mr. Changson Lew Chang and Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth Hoth-Nyaang, who recently defected from the main armed opposition faction led by the Country’s former Vice President.

“We, the Jikany – Nuer community at UN – Protection site in Juba condemned the action taken by General Gatoth Gatkuoth and Changson Lew Chang who declared their defection on Tuesday in Sudanese capital, Khartoum. The two have cited several reasons for abandoning the movement under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar” stated the community in a press statement imparted to Wangdunkon Media.

The community strongly believes that this defection of Gathoth should not be taken as a surprise because he did that before in 1997 when he defected from the then Machar led South Sudan Independent Movement/Army (SSIM/A) which resulted into death of more than 5oo men from Jikany community through his then directionless Thoura-Jikany.

“In strongest term, we rejected the action taken by General Gatoth Gatkuoth, General Chuol Gakah and Changson Lew Chang against the SPLA/SPLM – IO Movement under leadership of Dr. Riek Machar” ~ Stated the leader of the community in UN-House PoC in Juba, Mr. Bini Kuajien Tut
