[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]ambio: – A sporadic shooting has been reported last night in Yambio town causing a huge panic to the local population. According to previous report by Wangdunkon Media correspondent in Yambio two days ago, the situation has been getting worse since SPLA soldiers were reported to have been killed by the arrow boys three days ago in the border point of Birisi; hours later, an SPLA soldier killed two young men in Yambio town as a revenge.
No arrest has been made to the culprits both from SPLA soldiers and the arrow boys.
Three soldiers are also said to have been killed yesterday by unknown gangs in the northern part of the state capital.
During the nightlong shooting, four people, all civilians, are reported to have been killed and dozen more wounded.
The security situation remains tense and many people fled their homes for safety to UNMISS compound though UN is said to have refused to open their gate for those civilians saying they haven’t recieved order from Juba to allow entry to them.
This has subjected almost every citizen in Yambio to live in a precarious situation due fear of eminent attack by the SPLA.
The local community in Yambio town accused SPLA soldiers of targeting civilians and agitating the situation so that they loot shops and houses. This is similar scenario to what happened last month in Munduri and Maridi when elements of the SPLA soldiers were killing civilians and later on burned down tukuls to ashes and looted all their belongings.
They urged the state goverment to order an immediate removal of this brigade so that people don’t experience what happened in eastern part of the state.
In response which is a series of many proposal from Governor Bakasoro, he ordered the relocation of the SPLA units in Yambio and other surrounding areas as a measures to mitigate the ongoing insecurity in the state. The local population has lost trust from the national army since they are targeting the civilians
The situation is escalating after every hour and Wangdunkon Media is on the ground closely monitoring the situation with more updates on the way coming.
