[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he chairman and the Commander-in-chief of SPLM/A, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, has relieved the deputy Chief of General Staff for Operation, Maj. Gen. Peter Gatdet Yak in a statement that was issued today.
“Pursuant to December 6-12, 2014 Pagak Conference Resolutions, I, Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Chairman and Commander-in-chief , SPLM/A hereby relieve Major General Peter Gatdet Yaka as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations” the statement reads.
In a different statement, Machar appoints the Commander of Special Division 1 forces, Maj. Gen. James Koang Chuol Ranley as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operation.
Dr. Machar replaced Maj. Gen. Koang Chol with Maj. Gen. Johnson Olony as the Commander of Special Division One forces in Upper Nile State.
No details of the reason of the dismissal has yet been released but analysts point to the fact that the two men don’t want any peace agreement that involve Salva Kiir in the interim leadership.
We are still waiting for more explanation from the leadership of the SPLM/A in Opposition.
