[dropcap]M[/dropcap]alakal – Several sources have confirmed to Wangdunkon Media that the SPLA-IO troops have moved out in numbers using different direct from Malakal toward Akoka.
However, sources within SPLA-IO have so far confirmed that their forces have reached Akoka only to find out that the government forces abandoned the area.
“We are moving forward, we will not stop in Akoka; when our forces were moving from Malakal, we thought that the government soldiers were in Akoka, we were strategically advancing to the area only to find out that they abandoned Akoka” ~ Stated an SPLA-IO Captain who preferred to be named Kerbino as he was not authorized to talk to media.
Several other sources within the UN camp in Malakal have also confirmed to Wangdunkon Media that they have seen SPLA-IO soldiers moving in numbers toward Akoka, but were unable to confirm that the rebel forces have reached Akoka since they started going this morning.
We confirmed that the rebel forces indeed moved out of Malakal this morning toward Akoka but have not yet verified the claims of the SPLA-IO to have captured taken control of the area
